As far as fabrics are concerned, for this collection I chose linen, cotton and organic hemp and silk which are natural products free of toxic substances from cultivation to production. For silk, my research has been directed towards the “non violent” kind. Normally, in order to produce this precious cloth, the silkworms are killed. During the working of “non violent” silk instead, one waits for the silkworm himself to naturally leave his cocoon, from which the thread is drawn. These silks are made in India, according to Ghandi’s principles which respect the surrounding nature in the ecosystem and human principles. The dignity of the women working at these hand looms is emphasized, an added value to the product “Aimsha”, or “non violence”.
